bed load

The term 'bed load' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' In hydrologic terms, sand, silt, gravel, or soil and rock detritus carried by a stream on or immediately above its bed. The particles of this material have a density or grain size such as to preclude movement far above or for a long distance out of contact with the stream bed under natural conditions of flow. '.

The term 'bed load' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' Sediment that moves by rolling or sliding along the bed and is essentially in contact with the streambed in the bed layer'.

The term 'bed load' as it applies to the area of coastlines can be defined as ' heavy or large sediment particles that travel near or on the bed'.
